TRANSPORT ACCESSIBILITY

The intersection of main communication and trade routes

  • international road E40 (A4) France – Kazakhstan
  • international road 19 (S19) Lithuania – Greece
  • railway main line E30 - Pan-European transport corridor Dresden - Kyiv

Border crossings with Ukraine:

  • passenger/goods: Korczowa-Krakowiec, Medyka-Szeginie, Budomierz-Hruszew (up to 7.5 tons), Krościenko-Smolnica (up to 7.5 tons)
  • Railway: Przemyśl-Mościska

Rzeszów-Jasionka International Airport

The flight network for 2024 includes 15 destinations, including: New York, London, Zadar, Alicante, Rome, Warsaw, Munich, Milan, Manchester, Heraklion, Gdańsk, East Midlands, Dublin and Bristol.

The "Rzeszów-Jasionka" Airport also offers CARGO transport.

EDUCATION

The largest academic center in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship is Rzeszów. This is where the Rzeszów University of Technology is located. Ignacy Łukasiewicz, University of Rzeszów, Rzeszów University of Science and Technology, University of Information Technology and Management, University of Engineering and Economics.

  • The number of students in the voivodeship is over 45,000.

The most popular fields of study in Podkarpacie (percentage of students from given fields in the total number of students):

  • Business, administration and law (22.9%)
  • Technology, industry, construction (19.4%)
  • Health and social care (14.6%)

The Rzeszów University of Technology is one of the few universities in the country that offers the opportunity to obtain a civil pilot license in the field of aviation.

SMART SPECIALIZATIONS

The Podkarpackie Voivodeship identified as the regional specializations with the greatest potential for innovation and supporting the economic development of the region:

  • Aviation and space,
  • automotive,
  • Information and telecommunications
  • Quality of life (composed of four areas: Sustainable Tourism, High-quality Food, Medical and fitness services and products, and Environmentally friendly Energy).

They are the pillars of the region's socio-economic development.
